What place does each team come at the end of the regular season?

Or, What will the east and west standings look like at the end of the season? No points, just place each team in the spot you will think they finish in their 1-15 spot in the east or west conference. I’ll start:

2. Capitals

3. Sabres

4. Penguins

5. Bruins

6. Hurricanes

7. Islanders

8. Flyers

9. Rangers

10. Senators

11. Canadiens

12. Lightning

13. Thrashers

14. Maple Leafs

15. Panthers

Western Conference:

1. Red Wings

2. Canucks

3. Coyotes

4. Blackhawks

5. Kings

6. Flames

7. Sharks

8. Blues

9. Predators

10. Ducks

11. Avalanche

12. Stars

Oh, I'm thinking about it

I’m just not sure if I should fire off the cuff (and be hanged for it) or actually do some research (and still be hanged, likely).

We should call you OzzyFanPost machine, because that is what you are.

I think Washington goes #1. The ATL is just way too tough—I wouldn’t be too surprised if the Islanders or Rangers make it, or if either of them or the Flyers misses the playoffs. The SE is still weak, and while the NE I think is now weaker, the NE doesn’t have that dominant of a team.
1. Washington
2. Pittsburgh
3. Boston
4. New Jersey
5. Philadelphia
6. Ottawa
7. Tampa Bay
8. Buffalo

Something like that.

SE isnt that weak

Both the Thrashers and the Lightning have gotten significantly better this year and with a healthy Cam ward, the Hurricanes are playoff contenders.
Id say Boston or Pittsburgh have a better shot at taking the # 1

The Thrashers are still a young team and don’t have much in the way of experienced, good D (Kubina is their only one, Bogo is young, Enstrom is more offensive). They also don’t have a stud anywhere (Bogosian I think will be, but not yet). As for TBL, they need to mesh pretty quickly. Ellis in goal hasn’t proved that he can play like a starter for the entire season (he was great in a half starting role, like Halak). And the Canes are actually expecting to be kind of bad—they’ve brought in lots of youngsters and are on a budget this year.

Also: Kubina went from ATL to TBL

I honestly believe,

unless Brodeur widdles away this year or goes senile, the Devils have the division. Hell, even with hedberg as the backup, brodeur could lose a step and hedberg would step in decently. And now with a full season of kovalchuk + new arnott, their offense is more of something to be reckoned with now. Not to mention their d, whom lost martin (but he was mostly an offensive asset, replaced him with tallinder(a solid shutdown guy) and volchenkov, whom is one of, if not the best shot blocker in the nhl with a huge physical side to his shutdown game. The d got better, the O got better, and as long as brodeur doesn’t need a walker, I don’t see the devils not be a favorite. Even if the penguins added Martin, Michalek, Comrie, Asham, and lost Gonchar, Eaton, Leopold, Poni, Guerin, and Fedotenko. Flyers: Pronger will miss time, and have decided to play their goalie situation as is(which is a huge mistake in my book).

Go isles or Go home.

Penguins will gice devils a run for their money

But i think your right, the Devils have the division again.
I think the flyers can afford to stick with their current goalies i mean they have one of the best defenses in the NHL, even better than last year and that defense is what took them to the finals. I think their biggest problem will be offense, i mean losing asham and gagne, thats like 40-60 goals a season gone right there

OK, here goes

Eastern Conference:

1. Penguins — Too much talent, and the Atlantic isn’t going to be great this year.

2. Capitals — Still probably the best team in the conference, but the SE is much better this season

3. Sabres — I’m thinking maybe even as low as 5th in points, but the best of a weak division

4. Devils — This is tentative. They are one injury (Brodeur, Parise) away from missing the dance altogether.

5. Hurricanes

6. Senators

7. Bruins

8. Islanders (hope springs eternal)

9. Flyers

10. Rangers

11. Canadiens

12. Lightning

13. Thrashers

14. Maple Leafs

15. Panthers

Western Conference:

Oh who really cares? ;-)

1. Pens.
2. Caps
3. Sabres.
4. Devils.
5. Flyers.
6. Bruins.
7. Islanders. (don’t confuse me with the facts- my mind’s made up!)
8. Hurricanes
9. Senators.
10. Thrashers.
11. Canadians.
12. Rangers.
13. Lightning. (Stevie Who?)
14. Leafs.
15. Panthers.

Let's get real

We beat florida. period. The Leafs have too much defense to land below us. Atlanta is bigger with more scoring. The best shot for us would be finishing ahead of NYR. They have a better defense and G, but besides Gabby there isn’t much. else. Our D is improved , but the G situation could be scarry. The big question mark for us is up front. If everything fell into place I could see us beating the Rags but #12 would be a realistic limit this year if we were really putting up money instead of gabbing. But this kind of bull beats going to a shrink and its free!!! Keep up the good work Ozzyfan

dont right off the Rangers offence

Callahan, Dubie, Anisimov, Christensen will all improve
If frolov returns to past form then they have a great 1st line and Todd white and Kennedy could be solid pickups as well
dont forget that as much as its pointed out that the Islanders are a very young team, the Rangers are technically even younger than us, and their players are going to improve, just like ours

No problem.

I don’t think about spelling words much when I type(I’d guess your the same). I’m more process thoughts and hands follow, and sometimes the hands will make a write instead of a right or a there instead of they’re and so on.

The Leafs have too much defense to land below us.

Fixed that for ya. The Leafs have a lot of defensemen, true. They pay them a lot of money. They’re even better than the Isles’ blueline…but that’s not saying much. They will all need career years to save that team.

Not saved this year

No dough left for for the Offensive of course, but a puck stopped by the D is just as important as one that is scored by the guys up front. Problem there is there are going to be a lot of 1 to Zip and 2 to 1 loses by the leafs. As for us , thats another subject for one of your future posts.
