I did not personally like the pickups of Eaton and Jurchina before we added Wisneiwski. They combined for about 50 hits last season among the two of them. But now, I think our defense will be improved, not drastically mind you, but improved non the less over last season. The forwards, with another year of seasoning, hopefully will be able to bury more pucks. JT is deadly down low and KO can do all the dirty work along the boards. If they keep Josh at wing, we should be fine. Here's hoping that Comeau can continue his play from the end of last season and PA turns into a quality third line player, effectively replacing Tambellini and Bergie. Goalie has been the bain of all Islander fans existence over the last couple of seasons and does not look any brighter this year. Roloson can solidify but at his age, can we really expect 40 starts and leading us to the playoffs? DiP has to get healthy and I am not sure it will ever be possible.
So, here is the big question. With the Kovy situation still unresolved, and the NHL rejecting the Devils latest attempt at cap circumvention, do we jump back in? The KHL has offered him 3 years, 42 million dollars. Would he accept 5 years, 50 million to play for the Islanders? I would personally jump at that chance if I was Wang and Snow to make that happen. He would dynamically improve our wings and not hurt the development of any of our youngsters. Maybe even get this arena situation resolved as well. Facts are facts, and even though the attendance figures claim higher, there cant be more than 8000 people at the Coliseum on any given weeknight game that does not involve the Rangers.
What do you guys think?
