Around SBN: Knicks 90, Raptors 87: "Shump and Lin wouldn't let us lose."

Beautiful in every single way

This article by the Daddy Puck Daddy, Greg Wyshynski, is a thing of beauty on many levels.

Four agents talked anonymously with Greg about the opening week of the NHL's free agency period, with some interesting observations, most particularly about the area teams: Isles, Rangers, and Devils.  Great stuff all around, especially this:

"[Lamoriello's] thinking that this is going to be someone else's problem in a few years and 'I don't give a [expletive].' I think he sees a two-year window to win," said one agent.

Heh.

It was also gratifying to see on a national forum something that we in the know have been saying for a while: in a bold subhead to its own section, no less...

Garth Snow Is Actually Quite Good at His Job

Party on, Garth.

That was one of the strangest posts I've read from puck daddy.....

ever.

Never thought I’d see the day when it was so apparent that Sather was a bad GM that even the agents started bashing him. Too bad none of em were willing to go on record.

Don’t forget the Ranger bashing at the end as well. You know, I almost felt proud to be an Islander fan. I haven’t had that feeling in a long time.

Unfortunatly I take nojoy in it

I may dispise the franchise but I feel bad for some of their fans. They are going through what we went through not so long ago. Sucks to have to wait out the owner figuring out what everyone else already knows.

I hope the Rags actually get better at some point. This way I can take pleasure in our guys kicking their asses. It’s been 16 seasons since we last met in the playoffs. That’s too long.

I kinda see your point

…but then I think of that diva Lundqvist, and Wade Redden’s contract, and Sean &^%$#^^! Avery, and the smile returns to my face. Good times.

Of course I'm an expert, I've seen Slap Shot eleven times!

There is a piece on BB

Nick Lamoregna or something like that. He talks about the team likely being a 7-11 finish for the next few years until the talent in the system which he rates as better than just about anybody else’s joins the roster.

Should add that I have seen more and more writers on BR who have a lot of respect for what Garth has been doing and were a little stunned at the 10 years, $10 mil reports on Kovy.

Nice to see Garth getting some good press.
“The most underrated GM in the business,” said one agent. “He knows every nuance of the CBA. He has confidence in his five-year plan and is methodically implementing it.”

OMG reading stuff like that makes me almost giddy. But maybe the fact that Im hysterical because the Kirills are in NVMC is a factor in that too.

Let Us Go, Islanders! (Ever notice how strange that sounds without the contraction?)

So underrated, he can do Jankowski’s job too!

(Jankowski’s contract not renewed, position will not be filled, according to Strang.)

Who knows, Dom?

These agenst probably know many things we dont know regarding the way things work in the Isles organization.

Oh, I know

I’m just being glib. I can’t take a firm stance on any of the sub-Snow exec goings on b/c we just don’t know how it works, sadly. And even people in the know who do know how it works don’t always agree on who was doing what.
