Interested to see how Milan Jurcina performs on Long Island for Scott Gordon, his former coach in Providence. During Jurcina’s time in the AHL, Gordon and then-assistant Rob Murray tried everything to get more snarl out of the hulking Slovakian. They even employed Colton Orr to take a few jabs and prods at Jurcina during practice to provoke the defenseman. Usually, there was no response, although there aren’t many guys willing to mix it up with Orr, now the heavyweight in Toronto . .
A little more insight into the history between Scott Gordon and Juice, as relayed in Boston.com's hockey notes column.

maybe he told Garth
that he has finally figured something out…a strategy to turn Jurcina into a snarl machine.
You can't change someone's personality
What matters is whether he’s any good. He’s gonna play the way he plays.
Andy Sutton wasnt known as much of a hitter before he got here, either.
I agree you cant change someones personality, but players can learn to change their game if thats what they want to do.
Let Us Go, Islanders! (Ever notice how strange that sounds without the contraction?)
I agree
A D-man can get in the habit of hitting more – it just takes practice. But its not going to give him that snarl if that’s what you really care about. But you know what – even if he doesn’t hit any more than he has in the past – he’s about a league average defenseman which is an upgrade over a below average d-man if thats who he would replace.
