New jersey? No not the place...

Didn’t see any post about this so I figured I’d trow it in here.

I was under the impression the blue was going to go back to the old royal, but they kept the new blue. Also when did they change the home jersey, to the same style, I thought it was just going to be the classic third, but on the NYI site they KO in a home version in the dark blue?

I actually really like both by the way, prefer the dark blue to the royal, but the style is better than last years.

by Judgegavel on Jun 26, 2010 12:56 PM EDT reply actions

they kept the new blue

no they didnt, the new white uses the same royal blue as the third from last season.

My bad it looks so dark, I cant find a decent picture of it.

by the way is it me or is the Isles official site one of the worst sports web site around.

by Judgegavel on Jun 26, 2010 7:20 PM EDT up reply actions

I saw them in person at the draft party, they looked gorgeous.
Modern digital pics have all sorts of effects to equalize color or whatever, to brighten skin tones and things like that, so dont go just by that. In person, they were exactly what we hoped they would be! :)

So...

The classic third now becomes our home jersey right? If so will we have a third jersey, would love for them to bring back a variation of the Orange as a third.

Right. Isnt that fantastic? Our boys are gonna look great every night.

Its the same as every other NHL site, but I’ve always hated the NHL team sites since the NHL forced them all to go to one format.

IMO they improved on that considerably with the “Islanders Authorized” posts.

Guess no ones watching

ywo picks to go till we pick and both Kabanov and Telegin are available

by Judgegavel on Jun 26, 2010 1:56 PM EDT reply actions

I can't believe he lasted until then...

I knew he wouldn’t go in the first, but in the third this could be an all time pick.

Cant believe someone else didn’t take the chance.

by Judgegavel on Jun 26, 2010 2:01 PM EDT up reply actions

Score, Kabanov in the third

could be the biggest steal in the draft

by Judgegavel on Jun 26, 2010 1:58 PM EDT reply actions

Cannot believe he stayed around that long.

So much upside there. I’m surprised no team picked him up in the second. Still no defensemen but how can you pass on this opportunity?

by Anarcurt on Jun 26, 2010 2:03 PM EDT up reply actions

I don't think you can.

Such a talent. Such a Lindross (or is that Albatross?) around his neck in terms of an idiot father. Good on Garth for taking a chance.

Remember two years ago when this would have had some of us calling for the backup goalie to be fired?

I think the lack of drafted D-men means Garth will be active this free agency on the blue line or has a lot of confidence in his prospects

by rockhouse15 on Jun 26, 2010 2:07 PM EDT up reply actions

Confidence in the Prospects.

De Haan and Harmonic are both blue chips, then you have Ness and Kohn, along with MacDonald being an NHL talent and Reese as a possibility.

I thought the same thing but after saying that he aims for the playoffs this season you have to believe that he is going to get some big FA’s. July 1st could be exciting for the Isles for a change.

Islander season begins today. Here's to a stronger December. Now go get Gudbranson, Snow, and give me my free tickets.

by metalcoconut on Jun 26, 2010 2:14 PM EDT up reply actions

I just think he needed one more big talented D

and he had him at #30 if he’d drafted Jon Merrill. I like Nelson, but still think Merrill would have been better. If you’d told me that Garth could have drafted Nino, Merrill, and Kabanov in this draft without moving any major assets, I think my response would have involved pigs and flight.

by BCISLEMAN on Jun 27, 2010 7:03 PM EDT up reply actions

For a 3rd round pick, I feel that it was worth the risk drafting Kabanov.

by Dougtone on Jun 26, 2010 6:57 PM EDT up reply actions

Totally. The Isles got three first rounders this draft, using a 1st, two 2nds, and a 3rd round pick.

Talent wise he may be the best player. He got kicked off the Russian WJC team, he flaked out on Moncton after 22 games, and left his KHL team to join them. His maturity and character is greatly in question.

Paul Coffey's take on Karbanov
The Islanders selected Kirill Kabanov at No. 65. He had been ranked 31st by Central Scouting, but a troubled season saw him miss the first month of the Quebec League season as Moncton tried to gain his rights from his Russian team. He then lost three months to a broken wrist and finally, left Moncton during the playoffs to return to Russia to play in the World U-18 tournament, where he was soon released from the team.

Talented kid, but call him a project.

Now we have to hear about McIlrath beating the crap out of our prospects for the next couple of years until he reveals that he has a roid problem and all of his aggression came from chemicals.

Islander season begins today. Here's to a stronger December. Now go get Gudbranson, Snow, and give me my free tickets.

I still hear about Cloutier beating up Salo.

At least Salo could stop a beach ball.

I doubt McLrath

really makes much of a dent on the Rags.

I think Martin and Hamonic would pound the snot out of him anyways.

The good thing, the way our forward lines are shaping up, they are gonna need more than a few nucances to beat us. They are gonna need some D with skill to move the puck.

Okposo, Tavares and Nino are gonna be one hell of a headache for a lot of teams around the net.

McIlrath will be several years in development

and then the Rangers will probably have to trade Girardi to make room if he makes it. He has issues with skating and puckhandling.

Of interest, he and Hamonic were teammates on Moose Jaw before Hamonic was traded. Prior to the trade, he was the one gathering splinters while Hamonic played.

Still catching up to everything that’s gone on this weekend but … well, I laughed!

he is probably two to three years away

we should set up a pool as to how many points Fowler will put up before McIlrath ever takes the ice at MSG.
