Islanders Gameday: Who dat gonna stop Blake Comeau?

Complete Coverage >

Don't forget: NHL Center Ice is free this week on most cable systems. So if you're out of market and don't normally get the games, or if you're in market and this game stinks (though usually NYI-ATL is a fun watch), there are alternatives, like watching Edmonton's sub-Switzerland defense.

Dylan Reese's NHL debut. Health scratches are...EDIT: Do not adjust your TV. It's Jeff Tambellini. And in goal...Roloson.

Now that I've cleaned up, gone legit
I can see clearly: Round hole,
Round whole, square peg don't fit.

>>TV on the Radio, "I Was a Lover" | In honor of the NHL's square pegs moved on Trade Deadline Day.

10 question challenge.

Not fair asking KO what team drafted Brett Favre, The Falcons drafted him when KO was like 2 weeks old. Lol.

i got 99 problems, but Streit gettin' hurt in the Olympics aint one!

Hillen didnt have any advantage on that one either lol

thanks for the link!

I actually watched that game of Chicago vs. Edmonton yesterday. And Chicago put up some quite impressive Corsi figures indeed. Should have been a real high scoreline for sure.

Scratches

Bergie out, which is dumb. Park on second line, Jackman third…. sigh Tambi 4th line with Weight and Sim. I dunno Gordon, I dunno

Don’t get it. Starting to wonder if something happened with Bergenheim over the break or after his name was in trade rumors.

I dont know if theres anything to get

After all, someones gonna sit.
Cant sit any D.
Cant sit Comeau the way he is playing.
So its practically a 50-50 with him and Tambs.

Jeff Tambellini? Who is that?

Definitely ATL-NYI

Lots of chances both ways already. Roloson made some huge stops before, well, only so many doorstep slammers you can stop.

Nice breakdown by Jaffe on Atlanta's first goal

Awful change by Tavares/Moulson leads to an ATL 3-on-2.

Incredible. One of the worst goals given up all season… If I had only taken overs, was so obvious, damn.

2-0. Antropov

Another odd-man rush (2-on-1) off a bad neutral zone turnover.

Awful turnover by Kohn behind the goal.

I just want to punch all of them at once. Line them up in a long line, call them all assholes, and punch them. Staff included. For christ sake, like this game doesn’t matter or something.

And don’t pull Rolo just to send a message, pull your head out of your ass and take Park off the second line and you know… get your skilled young guys the ice time. Fuck. /Rant

Was really a buffet of suck, too: I’ll take one bad line change, one neutral zone turnover, and one defensive zone gaffe please. All after Roloson stands on his head to save their first five screw-ups.

I guess they can screw it up for him. Give up one more goal, and slowly compile three goals for, and that’d do it.

And no one can blame Rolo for the way the team is now. Gervais & Meyer are 5-6 defense men at best. We traded Sutton, and like it or not, he’s gone. Our D might as well be D Minus. (a joke).

by Martys301 on Mar 4, 2010 7:36 PM EST up reply actions

Wait, they'll draft a mix of F and D, like they always do

It’s always a mix. Nobody drafted in June is going to fix this; you’ve got a 3-5 year time horizon with most D anyway.

Lighthouse Hockey: Under contract through 2021, knees and hips be damned.

by Dominik on Mar 4, 2010 7:38 PM EST up reply actions

I think you're gonna see three of the top five picks Defensemen

The pipeling starts to open up this september with Hamonic going to the Bridge. DeHaan still needs another year in Juniors. The biggest weakness on this team is the D. It has been for a few years now.

by Chickendirt on Mar 4, 2010 7:46 PM EST up reply actions

I just don't see it

They’ve been drafting a balance for years. Three of the first five may be D, but it will probably depend on who they like, where they’re slotted, and when they’re available. Only specific set I can see them going for is more physical D rather than the puckmovers they’ve been collecting.

The funny thing is, Comeau hit the post twice. If he has the same luck he had vs. Chicago and the Islanders make a few less mistakes, it’s an undeserved lead just like that game.

Comeau hit the post twice.

If the Isles had goals from just a portion of the posts they have hit this season, they would be in a playoff spot.

I just get a kick out of this funny game. If Comeau hits posts on his first two vs. Chicago, we probably get blown out. Now in this one they outshoot ATL 21-10, hit two posts, make a few awful mistakes and add lazy backchecks, and it’s the other way around.

That goal by Streit was HUGE!!!!

They needed to get out of the first with a goal. This is now a three goal game and that changed everything.

Need to get one early in the second and this game is doable.

Weight and Schremp gaining the zone on the PP

Watching those two gain the zone on this PP was interesting. Atlanta lined up at the blueline, so Weight takes it to the strong side and then drops a behind-the-back pass over to Schremp, who rushes over the blueline at the weak side with speed.

Just a nice example of when you have two creative players who are sure-handed with the puck. They have the ability and confidence to get around a mash-up at the line.

That'll change...

It’s gonna get worse before it gets better. They just changed the official line on the Andy Sutton deal. They recieved what will most likely be a 55th-60th pick and swapped the 8th or 9th for the 3rd overall… Excellent work Garth. The QUIET way to trade up.

why?

Where did Martin and Joensuu go? What the hell happened to Bergenheim? I understand trading sutton, but Why couldn’t snow have spent the 5th round pick for the 240lb d-man Skoula that lameriello picked up? Oh, because the freakin back up goalie is determined to make this the smallest, weakest, lamest most unwatchable pile of crap ever assembled in the NHL. JT should play it out in Bridgeport and get reaquainted with the net. Okposo has no hands, lots of heart, no hands. Can we please ditch Sim, Weight and Park and let the Bridge loose for the last 18 games?

wow, haven’t ranted like that in a while. this was an extremely bad game. Ironic that Biron manages to get the loss. what a disaster he has been for almost every minute he has played here.
