Botta reports Philly and Chicago fishing for Roloson

This could be a very intriguing trade deadline for this team. If Snow can pull a late first for Sutton and a second for Roloson this team is in great shape heading into the draft. Optimally I think you'd like to see Philly get in on the bidding for Sutton. That will throw Washington and perhaps a few other eastern conference teams in the bidding. I don't think anyone wants to go a long series having to face both Sutton and Pronger for six to seven games.

Overall I'd say this team, if they trade Roloson and Sutton at the deadline, is solidly in the running for the services of Cam Fowler. I don't see anything standing in the way of them landing the third overall pick in the draft barring any lottery ball madness.

Star-divide

Overall I'd say this is a good thing. This team just plays .500 hockey with Bailey, Tavares and Okposo finishing strong, this team has a shot at at least some B level UFAs this summer. Perhaps even some high level UFAs looking to strike a one year deal to pad their numbers.

This draft should be this teams defensemen draft. You can never have enough of those. If you get stuck with too many you can always trade them in for some talented forwards or high draft picks later on. If anything Garth Snow should use this draft to corner the markey on young Defensemen. Next years draft is going to be weak so their really is not much immediate help coming up for at least the next two seasons.

There is one problem here that needs to be considered. One has to hope Dipietro's latest injury woe is just a minor setback. Otherwise this team is going to waste even more draft slots on goaltenders.

Sutton for Cam Fowler

Kind of a fun way to look at it.

Even if DiPietro is worst-case, I don’t see them using more picks on goalies though. They did that last summer, they’ve got a few in the system, and free agent goalies are becoming easier to land because the market is flooded with them. If they draft more goalies this summer, I’ll be extremely disappointed.

Two Goalies. with last years picks, and we still haven’t seen what Lawson/Munroe can do in the NHL. I think they are a big part of the reason that BP is doing anything in the AHL this year.

Please NBC, Fire Milbury, Hire Roenick Full time!!!

I would prefer Sutton for Volcenkov

and a number of Sens fans are voicing the fear that Sutton’s arrival means Volcenkov will be shown the door. As to Fowler, I am thinking Gormley is more the Snow / Gordon junta’s kinda guy.

don't think they are looking for UFA

seems unlikely we will go after any big UFA this season or anytime in the near future. Maybe a role player, PK guy or another PP defensmen. I think we just keep bringing in draft picks and thats all.

They'll have to do *some* shopping

Yashin’s cap hit reaches its peak next year, but the team still has just under $30 million committed to next season. There has to be at least one decent-sized free agent to reach the floor.

The Ottawa move seems to mean Volcenkov's days as a Sen are numbered

and we will be one of the few teams that can pay him what he wants without seriously realigning the team. Having him and Mark will provide an outstanding core to add the various D prospects to.
