AFTER 40 MINUTES CANADA-SWEDEN

Stay connected for news and updates

Some shoddy goalltending and no one really dominating for either team. 4-4 after 40 minutes. Couturier made a spectacular play scoring the first goal less than a minute in. He made what looked like a great assist to Marcus Foligno from almost a 90 degree angle. Turned out that it had gone off a Swedish leg and Couturier got a goal rather than an assist. Not the best game for Larsson so far. He was looking up ice after making a nice outlet in front of his net when Columbus pick and Nino teammate Ryan Johansen made what could have been a late hit and knocked him back into Lehner who went balllistic toward Johansen. Larsson was then embarrassed at the end of the first when a puck came off the Swedish end boards at an odd angle right in front of him. He was unable to play it and it was quickly put in the net. Later, he was unable to prevent the centering pass during a 2 on 1 break by Canada. This was especiallly critical as Sweden was on the PP after scoring two quick goals to start the second period after giving up that fluke goal at the end of the first. Canada tied it shorthanded and then Ryan Johansen almost embarrassed Larsson again coming in one on one and almost getting past Larsson to get the shot on goal. Larsson has been flawless on his outlets and has made a couple of nice shots on goal. Now he is in the box at the start of the third for Sweden's first penalty, a slash on pest Foligno.
