Despite the long layoff between games -- it's powerplay practice time! -- there's a lot of this and that going on, so this is my harried attempt to cobble some bits together in one post. Things get back to business tomorrow with the first of the home-and-home with the Short Island Smurfs. This was Jack Capuano's first chance at extended time with the team, so we'll all be interested to see how they look -- and many of us will wonder if what we see is Capuano-related or just the usual intensity of the Isles-Rangers rivalry. Meanwhile:
- Katie Strang reports Andrew MacDonald and Jack Hillen are both off IR -- AMac to play tomorrow.

Puck Daddy Isles-Rangers Viewing Party: A reminder about this event at the Irish Times Friday. I know we have a few readers who said they'd go, and I will actually be in town and stopping by for the first period or so before moving on to a concert (two of my passions collide that night). Twitter hashtag: #PuckDaddyNYC. At the other end of the weekend, WebBard and I should be at the Isles-Flyers matinee Sunday, so drop me a note if you want to put a face to a screenname.
- After playing for several weeks on a PTO, Jeremy Colliton has been signed to a two-way deal by the Islanders, meaning he can even enter your call-up pool should injury carnage worsen. [FanShot discussion here] [Fornabaio's weekly Bridgeport chat -- which was before this signing -- is here]
- BC sought an update on Kirill Kabanov's progress in Lewiston from Sun Journal writer Justin Pelletier.
- More from the official site: Mark Eaton -- a former baseball prospect who chose wisely -- gets the "Road to the Coliseum" treatment, and Rob Schremp Hockey gets the "Story Behind the Number" treatment (a surprisingly frequent topic when it comes to his switch from #13 back to FMIV's 44).
