Why is the Town of Hempstead hamstringing the Islanders?

Having grown up on Long Island basically my entire life, I find it extremely frustrating the position that Town of Hempstead supervisor Kate Murray is putting Charles Wang and the Islanders in.

Nassau County and New York State both approved Wang's Lighthouse plan. Many Long Islanders want this project. So why are we letting this idiot and her equally idiotic board members ruin the plans?

The Islanders BELONG on the Island. Period.  I don't want to see them in Queens or Brooklyn, I want to see them in either Nassau or Suffolk.  So instead of looking forward to a new building and an exciting new chapter in Islanders history that would center around our young draft picks and give us the capital and facilities to bring in quality vets, we are mired in a holding pattern that makes us just float.

It's hard for me to get excited when there is no light and the end of the tunnel.  Why on earth would Charles Wang want to keep this team here when the town that they play in is making it painfully obvious that they want no part of the Islanders?

There has got to be something we can do to help this project get off the ground.  One corrupt supervisor and her lackeys shouldn't be able to destroy this franchise.
