Bruin Cap Issues = Islander Opportunity?
Wheeler and Hunwick have been mentioned. Wheeler for Schremp or Martin or Hunwick for Hillen?

I would bet almost anything that unless some big career threatening injury happens to someone important that Snow is going to win and lose with the current Islanders roster.
Even Thomas Pock can't believe someone thinks he's an NHL talent.
Contributor to Lighthouse Hockey not sure if I'm the Sniper or the Enforcer.
Why?
For one, Garth has gone on record as saying that he will be trying to leverage cap deals. Wheeler and Hunwick would seem to be players wno have almost their whole careers ahead of them and have blue chip potential.
Second, the team is having a nice start to the season, but we have had some injuries and its not like we are so loaded with talent that a Wheeler or a Hunwick won’t bring us closer to that championship core.
How often has Garth come out and said he won’t make a deal/trade?

Never that I know of
he did, however, say that he would be looking at chances to improve the team by leveraging the cap system.
Wheeler would fit, IMO
We’d have to send back another winger to make room and we’d probably have to package a 2nd round pick at least. We could use the size. I’m not sure a good deal could be worked out but he would fit a need I think we have and he’s young enough to fit the plan.
If a deal is done anywhere I would think it would be for a good young defensemen like Bieksa from VAN or Hjalmarson from CHI.
The kids are more than alright.
Hunwick is a good young defenseman
Bieksa isn’t going anywhere for a while as Vancouver needs healthy defenders. From the way folks up here complain about him, I’m not sure I’d want him. The Hawks gave up some pretty good players so they could keep Hjalmarsson. Don’t think they are moving him. Those teams aren’t as cap strapped as Boston.
If you read Leafs boards
Burke is going to Pheasant-hunt his way into trading for his choice of Bruins players. There are fans already penciling new line combos lol.
Let Us Go, Islanders! (Ever notice how strange that sounds without the contraction?)
At that rate, the Leafs won’t have a first-round pick until Ricky’s contract runs out.

My Favorite Loopy Leaf post
Prior to the draft, one of them wrote a post for BR about who they’d get once they obtained the Jackets’ #4 pick. They never bothered with the little detail of how on earth they’d ever be able to obtain it! And they all congratulated the writer on a great post!
I don't trust Wheeler and want no part of him
Nor his bloated $2.2M RFA contract.
Hunwick is interesting, but I can’t imagine wanting to part with whomever they’d want in return. However, if it really became a distressed sale like the Wiz purchase, I’d bite.
Lighthouse Hockey: You say that like Streit and Okposo and Schremp and Bailey and MacDonald were important.
I would trade...
Schremp and a 2nd rounder for Wheeler. Nothing less nothing more. Boston gets a cheaper forward with hands and we get a towering 6’5" 205 lb. forward who will be coming into his prime shortly (Wheeler is 24 years old). Wheeler plays a more physical game then Schremp (by no means very physical, just more then Schremp) and has potential as a top 6 forward for the Isles. Wheeler has posted 21 and 18 goals in his first two seasons in the NHL. I would put him on route to be a consistent 30 goal scorer – much better then Schremp and his 44 games last seasons mixed in with back spasms.
with all due respect to Dom,
both Hunwick AND Wheeler intrigue me. They strike me as diamonds in the rough who Gordon could develop into real gems on the fly. It’s worth considering at least in my view.
i'd worry a little about Hunwick
…. because he looked really good and then regressed over the past season or so. He could still right the ship, but the track record on guys like that isn’t all that great. It’s not like taking a flyer on a Moulson or Streit or such, who never got a legit first chance – Hunwick has kind of played himself out of that chance and is hoping for another one. Guys like that are much more likely to have peaked with that great early start, lacking the tools necessary to re-adjust once the league has caught up.

Heh, no need for "all due respect" :)
I’m just a fan spouting an opinion — probably an overly harsh one at that, considering how young Wheeler still is.
I confess Wheeler intrigues me too — and given our depth at center I’d surely trade Schremp’s talent for Wheeler’s (granted, we’d have to give up more than RSH, and I don’t imagine Boston wanting RSH). I just have this fear that Wheeler is going to be a guy who thinks he deserves a raise on his $2.2M and his history is a bit enigmatic, contract-wise. But maybe he’d buy in and share Gopher stories with KO and Grambler stories with Anders Lee some day.

I'd trade in my RSH mancrush for Wheeler
Although I’d see if we could notch it back to only a 3rd, or a 3rd and something from another late round. C’mon, cap relief! Leverage that for all you can!
Lighthouse Hockey: I go there for their taste in beer.
