Rick DiPietro and Bridgeport lose to Worcester 4-3 Sunday

Sound Tigers completed a lost weekend dropping their third road game in three days with a 4-3 loss to the Worcester Sharks Sunday. In more important news Rick DiPietro made 35 saves on 39 shots. Rick played two of the three games in goal for Bridgeport this weekend. DiPietro's allowed one more AHL start on his rehab before the Isles have to call him up. With the Isles having a lot of days off in the next couple of weeks I'm wondering if Snow might call Rick up now to get him in a game on the road maybe in Dallas but most likley I would think he'll wait till the Isles return home. Bridgeport's next game is Friday, January 8th.

It's inching closer

I wonder if they’d sneak him in on the road trip or wait? Whenever it happens, it’s going to feel like “wow, is he really ready?” But not much more they can do than two starts in three games, unless they play him in the AHL next weekend.

Sorry about duplicating this post on the main page — looks like we were both working on this update at the same time. :)

We'll see how Rick feels tomorrow

He certainly got a workout with all the shots on goal he faced this weekend. 39 today. The Isles need to get him plenty of starts before the Olympic break otherwise in my opinion it could hurt his comeback. The only way DiPietro is going to make it back is if they throw him to NHL action soon. He could start Friday again for Bridgeport but I say if all is well put him first home game back from road trip vs Detroit. No easy teams in NHL so opponent doesn’t really matter.
