Jack Hillen, who was hit in the face by an Alex Ovechkin-slapshot last night, is out 6-8 weeks.

Hillen, who will be discharged from the hospital tomorrow, suffered a broken jaw and damaged teeth. He had surgery late last night and early this morning.

>>Katie Strang at Newsday [$5 please].

Ouch. Rest well, Jack. Dustin Kohn is now up.

Hope he enjoys chicken broth

poor guy! That’s almost to the end of the season. Might make a deal fro a defenseman more likely…or not.

Ouch, Its almost odd that it seems like except for Weight’s injury and Hunters at the beginning of the season all the injuries have been to Dman. Unless I’m forgetting one.

"So basically, the Stats make no sense whatsoever."

Kohnheads

I’m gettin’ slow. I didn’t even see that one coming.

probably not long after Dustin scores his first goal

He is going to be missed in the lineup. Hopefully his recovery goes well and he is back on the ice in 6 weeks feeling better.

Will work...for playoffs.

He sure is… what a pleasure its been to see him develop this season. Come back soon Jack!

Let Us Go, Islanders! (Ever notice how strange that sounds without the contraction?)

Sooooo

what’s with our luck and D men?

Our top 2 d prospects are injured. Now our most developed young D man is injured.

The answer: Marketing

As mikb said in a previous thread:

This should be in the marketing plan: Guess the Islanders’ Injury of the Year!

2008 – Hip
2009 – Groin
2010 – Shoulder

I’m picking "concussions" for 2011, especially if Colon Campbell keeps ignoring head shots to our guys.

Obviously, Hillen went off the script (Silly puck-moving defensemen — always breaking from the plan).

sucks

Hillen had been playing consistently well all season, and was starting to really exert himself in the offense the last few games. we will miss him, I think it is a big loss for our team

aaahhhhhhhhh

Well one of the Isles better d-man goes down. Hope the Isles can hang around but the Hillen loss makes it more difficult. Why you always have to have depth. The good news is we get to see Kohn more and from the very limited time we saw him last week he looked good. Not all is bad.
