Around SBN: 2012 Budweiser Shootout Entry List Released

You know what he's going to do," said Regehr. "He's going to try to run around and get after guys and hit guys. You know he's not going to fight."

Was he, you know, invited to scrap Wednesday?

"Oh, yeah," nodded Regehr. "He's been asked many times."

Calgary's Robyn Regehr on Minnesota forward Cal Clutterbuck's refusal to answer the bell after targeting Regehr and teammate Dion Phaneuf in a recent game.

yeah Robyn

doesn’t it just suck when a guy goes around taking cheapshots at you and your teammates and then lakes the “testicular fortitude” to back his action?

BTW, Rob, Kyle and the gang are looking forward to seeing you and poor wil Dion on March 25th. Can’t wait actually. Hopefully this time Dion will be the one going out on a stretcher.

ooops

and then lacks the "testicular fortitude" to back his action?

I've seen this "answering the bell"

statement a lot lately and here is the problem I have with the whole scenario. Why is the guy who is running around even given the option of answering the bell?

If there is so much outrage, he should not be given a choice to fight. Or better, the opposing team should become the initiator. It is far tougher to hit when you’re being hit. If anyone remembers the first (I think) Isles/Ranger game this season, there was a shift where Staal nailed Tavares, and the Rangers started running around. On the next shift, Sutton hit everything and the game calmed down.

At the point where a person is asked to fight, he has options, and the smart one is to not fight because he will hurt his team and he obviously knows he has gotten in the other team’s head.

Even when I was playing in a men’s league, there weren’t conversations beforehand if someone was running around or dirty. He was dealt with, or we played differently or whatever. We never asked him if he wanted to go and then called him a wuss in our locker room if he said no.

I suppose

I just think it’s kinda funny that Regehr is whining about this when he and his teammates had to step up when Dion wouldn’t after he hit Kyle.

This kind of thick irony just isn't natural

Wow. A Flame saying this. That’s just incredibly rich.

I thought so as well

March 25th should be interesting.

Perhaps the Isles should post this in all of the lockers in the visitors locker room on March 25th.

I am starting to believe that the guy that hit Brendan Witt with the SUV was Swiss.

a good thought

Wonder if anyone in the organization reads these comments.
