...and it certainly seems as if they won't. Pascal Morency has been suspended indefinitely, Dion Phaneuf and Coach Sutter are both defiantly saying that he plays his game the way he plays his game, and the League has not even given a hint that it will discipline Phaneuf in any way.

In any event, if the League will not take care of things, Garth Snow and Scott Gordon will have to do so. They have to make a statement, not just for Saturday's game or even for the March 25th affair in Uniondale. They have to make a statement for the rest of the year....for the Prongers and Exelbys and Brashears out there waiting to take shots at John Tavares, Kyle Okposo, and Josh Bailey...they need to make it clear that they will pay a price.

I wonder what it would take to get the Buff-man (Dustin Byfuglien) here...NOW!!!

Of course, I would also like to see Babchuk here as well. The old Islanders dealt with this by being tough and by killing the other team with their powerplay.

looking at best case

this event has brought the team together, these guys r more than just teamates they are friends (just watch the Comeau interview). I loved what I saw right after the hit with morency hopping the boards and the hair on my arms stood up while both Haley and (my favourite) Martin tuned on those guys. This is probably the best thing that could have happened to bring this team closer together. Right now I dont know who to bring in but I so pissed I wouldnt mind even Chris Simon to give this guy (Dion) a two-hander across the chest

As I say, though, it isn’t really about Phaneuf. It’s about discouraging others from doing that sort of thing. But creating a team identity is certainly good.

That’s my takeaway as well. The guys stood up. The roster was pissed. I didn’t hear quite the same talk last year after the Mottau/Nielsen hit.

The league isn’t filled with Phaneufs, a type of shoot-the-moon hitter; it’s filled with guys who are battling (and pushing the line) shift to shift. I’d like to see if the Islanders have willing combatants among the current roster to deter that.

Lighthouse Hockey: Side effects may include Weight gain and frequent game loss.

The Eastern Conference sure seems to have done so in the offseason. Its good that there are guys willing to step up, but the presence of Byfuglien would give somebody like Phaneuf pause. You need someone who will not only step up but will be able to clean somebody’s clock. I would put Buff out there on offense or defense and just make it his mission to continually pound the toughest guy on the other team…your Exelbys, Prongers, and Brashears.

I have been against the idea of the Isles getting Buff in the past. Well, other than a few Dangerfield jokes here and there, (Take my Buff, Please!) After watching a few clips of the Isles though, I think it might be a good idea. I haven’t been able to watch a game yet, mainly due to my wife discovering facebook and putting a SERIOUS dent in my computer time. I would like to see a player on the Isles that has the ability to get inside a goalies head like Buff did with Luongo in the playoffs.
BTW, has anyone else notice that spell checker wants to change Luongo into Lounger? HA!

He would be a good compliment to the physical forwards they already have.
