Good read on the Islanders rebuild at Hockey Journal.
h/t to BCISLESMAN for pointing it out.

I know there is varying opinion on specific decisions (e.g., whether to sign an enforcer and bid on Tanguay or Babchuk), but overall it does feel like Isles fans have bought into the need for this rebuild: Like cleansing the remnant ashes of Milbury. Agree?

Well, the book is still out on Babchuk. I hope that we will trade and sign him before October (or before he gives up and heads to the KHL). Another book I would recommend to you given your interest in the Blues as well as the Isles is The Road to Hockeytown by Jimmy Devellano. He talks about his experience with the Blues and the Isles as well as the Wings. The one thing he stresses that Mad Mike did NOT have was patience. How good would this team be if we had Chara, Gaborik, and Luongo (as we could have but for Mike).

This team may or may not be a lottery team again this year. I suspect that Garth and Scott will keep plugging in this or that player to see whether they will work. I do believe that establishing two effective scoring lines between this season, the deadline, the draft, trades, and FA will be an important goal for Garth and Scott to achieve by this time next year. Would really love it if we could swing a trade to get Sharp here.
