"First, thank you for the patience you've exhibited. We're going to make some mistakes, we're going to do some very smart things. We're going to stay the course, we're going to build this team with the younger players, through the draft, and sprinkle in the kind of free agents we believe will add to the team."
Charles Wang's message to Islanders fans in the WFAN interview.
He made no mention of "thousand points of light," but he did fault himself for "chickening out" and not hiring Snow as GM 40 days earlier.

I think if Neil Smith ran the team it at the very least would have been very interesting. I’ve been down on Snow for a while, and have the feeling that he was a cheap fit since he was under contract anyway. Streit last year, Tavares and Biron this year, has me feeling better about him. It’ll come down to whether the rookies pan out or not. Which is scary, because Islander draft picks panning out are few and far between.
I think the rookies panning out is in large part beyond his control (or at least more due to luck of the draw, draft); the big thing for me will be how swiftly and astutely he acts when it becomes clear some rookies won’t pan out. Or even hypothetically with Tavares: If he becomes good, but not great, would Snow make the hard choices when it comes time to extend him through his UFA years?
I kind of like Snow so far, but I don’t think he’s had very difficult decisions yet. The early phase of a rebuild in part writes itself; the toughest thing is sticking with it through the pain.
