Around SBN: Dog Football! Which Breeds Are Best Suited For The Gridiron?

I'll probably look this over later and begin plotting road trips.

The season begins and ends at home against the Penguins. The Sharks and Kings visit early on, while the Islanders return the favor (for the Kings, plus Ducks) in March. A seven-game November road string ends in Toronto - part of 10 road games that month. Yikes.

Any games jump out at you?

I don’t like our first three games.

As a matter of fact, our first month is freakin brutal.

Caps 2 times
Pens Once
Sens Once
Canadiens 2 Times
Sharks Once
Bruins Once
Canes Once
Sabres 2 times
Kings once

The only guys I see us having a realistic shot to beat are LA and a split against Buffalo.

I suppose if your facing the cup champs maybe it’s best to face them early and hopefully capitalize on their hangover.

I like our chances against reconstituted Montreal, too. It’s really so early, maybe some won’t be in form yet. But yeah, that opening month is no cakewalk. Add November’s road games and I can hear the first Taylor Hall chorus coming.

Looks like

we play spoiler by late December.

Looks like the Wild Cards this year are Martin, Joensuu, and Dibenetto (hate spelling that guys name). If they have anything in those guys it could make the difference early in the season.

Tambellini has to show he can put the puck in the net on a semi regular basis just to get this team out of the top ten in the draft. Taylor Hall I think may be the property of Atlanta or Phoenix when is all said and done. We’d have to try really hard to be as bad as those two this season.

The Islanders keep drafting kids who are tough to spell. I suppose it keeps me on my toes, but it’s giving me a headache.

With Atlanta, I don’t know. They’ve made some additions that might make them just good enough to mess up their rebuild. A happy Ilya is a different Ilya.

Opening night should be a monster!

November ( 9 out of 10 on the road) looks horrible. Out of an 18 game stretch, only 4 at home. The schedule makers must of borrowed some good stuff from Wang to smoke. At least the Flyers don’t get a shot at mugging JT and leaving the body in a dumpster at Wachovia until December. Why the Trashers for 2 home games? Is the NHL really trying to kill attendance?

Looking forward to the Jan 9th roadie @ phoenix, and Mar 19-20 @ Ducks and LA. 3 games for me!

I hate Olympic years,lol.

I haven’t looked at all the other teams’ schedules, but what I’m hearing from other fans is the Olympics has created some real gems for everyone.

Agree it’s good JT gets to acclimate for a while before heading to Pronger’s new Elbow Bank.

For Atlanta: We have to play 2+2 against each in-conference team.

You should grab some photos or do a game log for those southwest games!

Oops, I forgot, same conference. I guess the Flames have become more irrelevant.

Ugh

I meant the Thrashers. I remember the Atlanta Flames

LOL. Love it! What’s sad is I was following along without missing a beat.

Absolutely. Always the hardest yet most fun night of the year for me.

Got the hotel room lined up yet? I’m thinking about staying at the Drury Inn. Old YMCA across the street from Union Station. I can still walk/stumble to Hooters, but it’s not as expensive as staying in Union Station.
Of course, if they would have the game a little earlier, I can just drive the two hours from home. For some reason my wife doesn’t want to drive home after the game, with some drunk in the car laughing at how upset the blues fans are.

Nice! We’ll have to connect closer to the date.

I’ve done a five-hour drive home from Chicago after games before, and each time driving through the plains I think, “I probably shouldn’t do this anymore.” Which is why it stung all the more to miss last season’s Islanders-Hawks Sunday matinee.

Makes me growl, I was in Binghamton, NY for that game. Cursing my boss for sending me there, and the hotel for not having VS.

I’ll probably be at the Isles – Flyers game in Philly at the end of Jan. Unless I convince my Roomie to make a road trip to the Winter Classic.
