Roloson signs for 2 yrs w/ Isles.

Apparently the Islanders went with experienced (i.e. old) when they inked Dwayne (or is it Duane) Roloson (or is it Rolosson or Rolloson or Rollosson...you get my point).  Brings experience...and a short enough deal that they can revisit the goalie question again next summer and the summer after depending on the status of Ricky D.

Anyway, I saw this at Logan's blog at Newsday.  fyi.

It is nice to be here, by the way.

Thanks for posting this

Sorry I missed it when I threw the FanShot up about this deal — otherwise I would have bumped your post to the front page (center column). Kinda crazy keeping track of things on July 1.

But again, thanks for joining the dicussion and welcome aboard.

Everybody else, a lot of Roloson thoughts going on in comments here, but leave ‘em or your own full-blown theories wherever it’s relevant.

I’ll have another main post up this evening when the dust has settled. A lot more rumors are flying around.

goalies

Why so many? Rolossen is good and a veteran goaltender and with Dipietro out i understand the addition but with being fairly sound in goal why sign Biron? There throwing money away. Why didnt we go for Jason Williams or perhaps Bertuzzi to a one year deal. Make an offer to Drew Stafford of the Sabres! I just feel like we wasted a couple mil gettin marty when were more then fine in goal. Should have signed Kevin Weekes or Mikail Tellqvist. Cheaper and capable if anything!

Got some work to do before being a playoff team let alone a contender again!

Biron only cost $1.4 million, which is crazy cheap — it’s not even $1 million over the minimum — and he’s actually good, whereas Weekes and Tellqvist…meh. DiPietro’s health has proven to be as unpredictable as Charles Wang’s first seven years of ownership, and Roloson is old. If everything goes well, the Islanders picked up a very cheap piece of trade bait.

Bertuzzi has become really ineffective. Williams or Stafford? Well, maybe … but with Williams, if Detroit comes calling, you pick up the phone.
