Are the Canadiens Not Approving Draft Tickets for Americans?

This is a map of the northeast corner of North America:

Habsmap_medium

That circle is centered on Montreal and is a circle meaning all points on the thick black line are equidistant from Montreal. To include Toronto and part of the golden horseshoe inside that circle, we need to extend its radius to 375 miles. You know what else is 375 miles from Montreal? New York City. So why is it that the Montreal Canadiens aren't sending draft tickets to people in America? Their website clearly says:

For your chance to obtain tickets, please register by completing the form  on Monday, June 15, between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m available exclusively on canadiens.com . Tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis until all tickets are gone.

Well that's funny, SkinnyFish refreshed their page until the registration box popped up and didn't get an email about tickets, while people who registered afterwards and live in Canada (including people in British Columbia) got theirs. First come, first serve, my ass.

Are the Habs not sending tickets to people who live in America? Their website didn't have a way for us to enter the state we lived in. If you're a New York Islanders fan who wants to see his team pick first overall sorry, Montreal doesn't mail tickets to you folks south of the 49th parallel. What's Montreal's motivation for this? I hope this was some sort of oversight, but since it's unlikely to be corrected this seems like a pathetic move on the part of les Canadiens.

I'll get tickets somehow, and I'll get in to the draft, but I plan to show Montreal how I feel about their "warm welcome" by not buying a single thing while I'm at the Bell Centre, I hope some of you join in too.

I’ll have to bring this up to the Isles PR staff and see what’s going on.

I spoke to the Isles PR dept. They hadn’t heard anything about this. Are you the only person who’s experienced a problem?

Did you even TRY to ask someone or did you just go strait to complain?

My friend in Binghamton got his, maybe it wasn’t your being American, maybe it was your face. Maybe, just throwing this out there, YOU did something wrong, and instead of trying to figure out what went wrong, you decided to place blame instead of working on it.

Or it could be a Canadian conspiracy.

No need to get hostile. I’m sure that he was just venting. Try to keep the comments a little more positive.

Sorry Ref,

Must have been fueled up from reading through the comments at WinginginMotown. That and the fact that my friend is going to the draft, with his wife, and didn’t invite me.

I feel for you man. No need to apologize. Frustration gets the best of everyone at least once a week. Look at this way: If you go to your Draft Party or stay at home, you will still be drinking more DURING the actual Draft than me or your buddy. I won’t be able to touch an alcoholic beverage until well after the 1st Round is over considering the amount of work I’ll be doing up there.

Plus, you and Dom can wallow in sorrow and beer together. He’s not going either (LOL! Sorry Dom, I couldn’t help myself! It’s the last time I promise…).

Force of habit,

When a Ref talked to me in Soccer, the first thing out of my mouth was Sorry Ref. Not that I was a dirty player, mind you. I was however a VERY aggressive full back.
As far as my friend, just because he lives in Binghamton, NY and I live in Decatur, IL is not a good reason to not invite me! Besides, he is only taking his wife so she doesn’t accuse him of going out to the bars and misbehaving without her. Of course, that doesn’t mean that he won’t do it WITH her anyway…

No worries. I’d be disappointed if you didn’t keep rubbing it in up through the draft … and long afterward :)
