Coyotes-Islanders [game thread]

Phoenix Coyotes at New York Islanders, Mar 8, 2009 3:00 PM EDT

Continuing the season of farm call-ups, Kurtis McLean -- who impressed in his two-game call-up earlier this season -- is in for Trent Hunter. At 28, McLean's know kid, but the late bloomer brings all the enthusiasm of youth.

Quoth OdinMercer in his game preview:

“Normally I’d say this would be a boring game, but the Isles just beat the Devils 7-2 yesterday and a couple days ago we put down the Bruins, so it could be a good game if those same teams show up.”

Indeed. Suppose it depends on whether anyone hit the city last night.

At the game, most likely. So far, home games are particularly light ’round these parts.

5-on-3 for Phoenix

This now-slow 1st period could end darlkly here. Two minutes left, long 5-on-3.

Just watched Billy Guerin celebrate pretty hard after helping the Pens to a shootout win over Washington. Good for him. He looks pumped to be playing meaningful games again.
