Islanders @ Hurricanes [game thread]

New York Islanders at Carolina Hurricanes, Mar 20, 2009 7:00 PM EDT

Quick programming note: I'll be on the Hockey Night on Long Island podcast with Alex and Steve tomorrow, 3:30 p.m. Eastern.

If you missed it in the preview, Greg Logan (who's been burned before, when Gordon was being cagey with the DP situation) thinks Mannino gets the start tonight. Run with your shot, young lad.

Islanders Gameday: Looking to ruin the Canes' run

Natural Disaster blogs: Canes Country | Red and Black Hockey

I'll be mostly catching this one on DVR, but as always your in-game thoughts, vents, anxieties and general id via the comments is encouraged. Go Islanders, but if the refs want to screw us out of a win somehow, that's okay, too -- so long as we can bank that karma for when games matter again.

Dom left the front door open for me – but I have been busy running around getting things together for tomorrow!

That is the second time it cut out in the middle of action – it happened during the first period too.

Hey it’s back, wow – cutting right to another commercial.

Gervais

I think Streit is rubbing off TOO MUCH on Bruno – what a goal.

Jackman with two points the first game after his extension – not bad.

Streit

4-2 Isles – Streit on the power play.

This is another one of those games where I am so conflicted…..

May actually be Okposo's

I believe they said it went off of Okposo’s shin pad.

Canes Goal?

Canes may have scored, Mannino is saying no goal.

Under review.

It's Good

Cole should have been called for interference, but the goal stands.

4-3 Islanders

Canes come back, go ahead

What a turn of events here.

Canes score the equalizer on the power play, then come back with a beautiful setup with the go ahead.

Islanders seem to be scrambling here late in the period.

The devil on my left shoulder is snickering that it’s good for the rebuild – but the “good guy” angel on the right says it would be more fun to see the Isles win.
