Around SBN: 2012 Africa Cup Of Nations Final

The road to the No. 1 spot in the lottery will be determined to a large extent by how the Islanders fare over the next six straight road games, starting tonight against Toronto. Of the Islanders' final 16 games, 10 are on the road, and they are, by far, the NHL's worst road team with a 6-23-2 record. The Lightning has 9 of 16 remaining on the road, where they are 10-18-4, and Atlanta has eight of 16 left on the road, where the Thrashers have a 12-17-4 mark.

T4T Still Possible

This is a young team, let’s not forget that. There will be situations where they may fall back on old habits and become unable to bring the same pressure night after night down the stretch.

Some part of me still thinks they will continue to win and piss me off to no end. However, they face a Toronto team looking to exact revenge on Brendan Witt – how will they respond tonight and in the games following? They face division leaders a few times in the next couple of games on a long road trip too – fatigue and travel are sure to have a factor I am sure.

Agreed. Whenever I worry about uncertainty, I think of the odds. And the odds are a six-game road trip will not be kind, and the youngsters will make mistakes. (Plus, given this season, someone will get injured LOL).

Wonder if they hit the city hard last night?
