Coach Scott Gordon, who has been at odds with Guerin much of this season, wasted no time when asked how he will fill the leadership void. "I addressed a few of our younger players tonight, and I went right to the point and said, 'In this group here, there's going to be two captains. It's what you're going to do in the second half that's going to allow me to make that decision.'"

of Islanders (Campoli, Witt, the anonymous) who had issues with Gordon.

Honestly I think Logan is making this out to be way too big of a story. I heard two different things last night regarding this, yet Logan even wrote about both in his story.
Guerin has been a great leader all season, I didn’t see anything to make me beleive he wanted out. Go back two weeks ago and he was adamant about wanting to remain an Islander.

Wait, Logan did or didn’t write about both?

So do you think it’s other players who have had issues, and they are projecting it through their view of the Gordon/Guerin relationship?
I don’t mind Logan for bringing this up now. He’s hinted at different dissenting voices all season long but has never made a big deal of it. It makes sense to compile what he knows and give it one good overview (with anonymous detractors, of course) before the deadline sell-off.
But I don’t think it makes Guerin out to be a bad leader — Guerin takes the high road by not airing their disagreements. If anything, he looks like the good captain, who handles things behind closed doors while other “locker room voices” (whatever that includes) vent what they think.
Frankly, the whole thing looks natural to me: This season was about the rebuild. Vets are naturally going to be reluctant when the young kids get more prominent roles, but that is precisely what Gordon was brought in to do, and I think he’s done it well, with a minimal amount of (public, anyway) locker room dissension.

I honestly think its a communication issue with a rookie coach and nothing more. Logan wrote about both things I heard last night in the same story, so he just seems conflicted in his own writing is what I mean.
These things happen all the time in sports, sometimes they are overblown by the media which I feel is the case here as well.

That sounds right.
Regarding overblowing it, in this case I’d actually say it’s fans who blow it out of proportion: If Logan has been hearing little rumblings all season from guys who won’t go on the record, I’m glad he’s only dropped hints here and there and not gone all tabloid with it. Just keep collecting these bits (and words of praise from guys who did go on the record — even Witt, ha!) and see what he has at the end. So before the rest of the vets get sold off, Logan’s doing his job by saying, “Look, this is what I’ve heard this season. This is the coach’s explanation. This is what on-record guys would say. Take it as is.”
