Friday Frivolity: Fun with standings

"It's Dec. 4, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses."

Just thought this was a happy glance for a Friday afternoon:

Atlantic Standings

GP W L OTL PT
Pittsburgh 29 20 9 0 40
New Jersey 25 17 7 1 35
New York Islanders 28 11 10 7 29
Philadelphia 25 13 11 1 27
New York Rangers 27 13 13 1 27

(updated 12.4.2009 at 8:50 AM EST)

Sure, games in hand 'n all that. But the joy of rebuild expectations (sorry, don't use that word) is that we can be pleasantly surprised at where the Isles are -- growing, evaluating, maturing -- while the Rangers are shuffling deck chairs and the Flyers are holding closed-door meetings. [UPDATE: And firing coach John Stevens.]

Have a wonderful Friday night, Islanders fans. Fun resumes tomorrow in Tampa Bay.

Maybe it's just me, but....

those guys look like they just went down to the local pub to get hammered and are halfway there.

You know the Isles are doing alright when I find myself pulling up the conference standings just to look at them.

Let Us Go, Islanders!
(Ever notice how strange that sounds without the contraction?)
