Islanders Gameday: Panthers prepare for the Schremp Experience

Complete Coverage >

So it's Dwayne Roloson vs. Tomas Vokoun. Andy Sutton and Jack Hillen in, Andrew MacDonald and Jeff Tambellini out. Dominic Moore back in for the Cats, Greg Campbell still out -- which means if something suspension-worthy happens, maybe the Colin Circus gets to deal with it, yay!

Scott Gordon Quote of the Day: "He's done a great job. It's not easy with the amount of ice time he's had up to this point to go out there and function within a team's system. He wants it bad, and he's working at it."  If you guessed that was about Rob Schremp, you win 1 million Internet dollars.

This is our official in-game thread: the throw-it-at-the-wall, instant-reaction, share-fruitcake-recipe-and-metal-bands thread.

Prediction: Josh Bailey gets a shot on goal clangs one off the post. Blake Comeau has a good game with room for improvement.

Wonder how many will be tallied on the official home ice score sheet. Those are notoriously unreliable.

Ha, and now it must be noted he just prevented a goal by clearing the rebound in front of an empty net. His job, but still, I’ll credit when I see it.

Saturday night they did what playoff teams do…find a way to win a game they should have lost. Tonight they did what teams that get the #1 overall do, turn in a total stinker. They never can seem to consistently play at a high level the way they would have to if they were to make a playoff run. Taylor Hall will look good in the blue and orange.

If it’s a case of, ‘one step forward, two steps back’, we’re in the Taylor Hall sweepstakes; if we can improve to ‘two steps forward, one step back’, we have a shot at the playoffs…..tonight is QUITE ugly, and I’m mystified as to why it’s happening…..

to have a shot at the playoffs, they would have to win at a .600+ pace for the rest of the season. I do not see this team doing that this year.

So when does the real game start again?

The Whole Foods grocery store (headquarters in Austin, TX) near me has announced that they have an outdoor rink on top of their building. I went to see it and got a good laugh...but it is an outdoor patch of ice on top of a building in Austin, TX. I guess I should be impressed.

for all the talk earlier about how much losing Gaborik would hurt the booshirts

losing Henrik would be far worse. He is the only reason they are remotely competitive. Atlanta had a long 5-3 at the end of the game and Henrik kept the puck out by force of will…and got them a point. To be fair, he screwed the pooch in the shootout.
