"And finally, know this:

Brooklyn is very much in play.

Queens is very much in play, although it’s a close second to Brooklyn now.

Suffolk is not a serious option.

The Islanders will not leave the New York metropolitan area during this generation or the next one."

He offers no evidence for Brooklyn having an edge over Queens

Queens is a much more convenient site and they have already offered to build us an arena. Again, what is his basis for saying Brooklyn has the edge?

I don’t understand why Suffolk can’t be an option? Didn’t Steve Levy offer the former Pilgrim State property to Wang? Maybe they’d have to add a third lane to the Sagtikos, but it filters to the LIE, Northern & Southern Parkways, so the traffic shouldn’t be too bad.

(1) Because of where people live. More people live on the west geographical end of LI than the east end. It would be a very poor decision to build a major arena farther away from a population center.
(2) because of the georgraphy of LI. Long Island is a bottleneck for traffic. You cant approach Suffolk from 4 directions like a cregion located on the continental US, you can only approach it from the west. Nassau, Quens, and to a lesser extent Brooklyn would all suffer the consequences of an arena out in Suffolk, but gain none of the benefits. Its not happening.

Let Us Go, Islanders!
(Ever notice how strange that sounds without the contraction?)

Eh, I always take Botta with a grain of Salt.

Brooklyn is in play more then Queens because the Nets Arena keeps taking steps forward Legal wise. If you were to plan a move to Queens you’d have to start from scratch.

"So basically, the Stats make no sense whatsoever."

not necessarily

It seems the people in Queens are already working on putting a venue in and, unless the Isles and the Nets would share a venue, why wouldn’t you be in the same situation there?
