The devastating news of the day is that the oft-injured, cursed-luck, gentlemanly Radek Martinek is out for the year with an ACL injury. Damn that man's luck. I know we're used to Martinek's injuries and inexplicable fragility and all that, but this is just thoroughly depressing. Meanwhile, Doug Weight is also out a week with the ol' "upper body" action. Blake Comeau replaces him. This is the thin margin of error I've mentioned; now we'll see what the Islanders depth is made of.

Last home game until the day before Thanksgiving. Come on boys, give the people what they want.

What? It's a Martinek injury. I had lunch, brushed my teeth, went about my routine.

And a little KO/Nielsen magic

Okposo sets Nielsen up 2-on-1, Pavelec made a great save sliding over to stop Frans.

"Anesthetizing performance by the Devils last night"

“…they put everyone to sleep, but they win.”

Jaffe and Howie on the Devils trap defensive discipline.

Tambellini just sent Sim on a breakaway

And the defensemen hooked Sim’s arm twice to keep him from shooting. Obstruction much?

There was a lot of obstruction (and too many men on the ice for that matter) that went unpunished in that Devils game. Plus there was the watching the puck getting cleared out into open ice right in front of you and inexplicably blowing the play dead. The lack of calls and whistles have been driving me berserk lately.

Lets go Islanders...

Can't argue with the results so far.....

 - looking very good after 2 (but I’m not gonna say that too loudly!) You still on, C? Don’t know where everybody (aside from Dominick) else is…..

I think a lot of people were glued to their TV screens watching this game lol

Apparently, this statement is just etched into the DNA of NHL hockey.

…and the blown calls against the Isles lately have been aggravating. I avoided it against Buffalo because it didn’t matter at that point, but two games in a row was a little harsh.

Holy. Shit. 1-0

Andy Sutton just made a fantastic Tavares-like move down low to score on the backhand. Andy Sutton.

Assisted by Tavares, as a matter of fact. The puck must’ve still had some JT-magic dust on it.

YES!

A nice gimme for him at the goal mouth. Good for him, he’d already created a bunch of chances.

1-1 Bogosian

Nice wrist shot, but Roloson better want that one back. Stick side. May have ramped a bit off of Streit’s stick.

Gotta agree with Howie and Bill

Win or lose, this is far more entertaining than a suffocating snoozefest with the Devils.

 - winning IS more fun, innit? Really want to check that out myself – but does that mean I’M hosting the thread for now???

Apropos of last night’s discussion about Brodeur back-ups. Clemmensen has let in 7 and counting. Several soft goals.

If consequences dictate the course of action, then it doesn't matter what's right, it's only wrong if you get caught. If consequences dictate the course of action, then I should play God...

See, Clem letting in 7 and Danis looking good in his couple of starts goes to prove what Ive said for so long. The Devs success hasnt been all because of Marty/goaltending, they are just a consistently good team.

Lets go Islanders...

Witt does it AGAIN.....

 - takes another penalty for a goal……

by ogam5 on Nov 7, 2009 9:25 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Nice game.....

 - Bailey’s goal satisfied my desire for symmetry, but one more score by either JT, or K-O would’ve been even nicer…..

Yeah- no points for KO and I need an assist to take stats for my fantasy team damnit lol. Now Ive just gotta root for Dan Boyle to have a great night!

Ha, just saw the highlights from the other games, and it looks like you got your wish: Boyle with 1G, 2A.

I need all the help I can get since the Queen screwed my team by sitting out again last night.

Meanwhile......

…..Bruins looked very good against Buffalo – admittedly, Miller sat out to rest – but the Sabres are officially on a 3-game losing streak since beating us:) Scott Thornton is a friggin’ MONSTER…..

by ogam5 on Nov 7, 2009 9:58 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Miller deserved a rest, I’d say. Even allowing 5 goals to the Flyers the other night, he made a bunch of huge saves, and I think only 1 of the goals allowed was bad.

Meanwhile, Cam Ward out with a serious leg laceration, and Leighton has been awful. So teams needing goalie help may include: Buffalo, Detroit, Carolina … Chicago?

Wow

Coming home late from a Wedding, this is definitely a gift. 6 goal game? Wooo!

Heh, yeah I left at 3-1 (and admittedly nervous), then came out of a movie and heard the score, and: Wooo! Six goals after the two injuries, even on Atlanta, I’ll take it.

I think I am going to get a subscription to the WHA webcasts...

maybe even make the 5-6 hour trip to Prince George to see Portland play Prince George. I very much want Nino Niederreiter and Troy Rutkowski to get drafted by us in June.
