Trade proposal

My head's exploding...

I've thought long and hard about a good trade that works for both partys involved and I have finally come up with a solid trade for the Isles to make...

Star-divide

I suggest that we deal Sim and Comeau to the bench for a few up and comming youngsters that haven't been given their shot named Jeff Tambellini and Rob Schremp. I think the bench would be willing to part with them and we would be gaining some skill and speed. The bench would get an experienced third/fourth liner and a solid 3rd/4th line prospect. Now we may have to pay some of Sims contract to get this deal done but we have the cap space...

What do you guys think??

not sure about Schremp

but with Tambellini’s ratio of GP to points, it is absolutely nuts to keep him off the ice unless he is hurt.

Haha

Well played, Swoopty.

I wouldn’t make the Schremp for Comeau trade myself, but this whole concept gave me a good chuckle.

But injuries and health have a way of opening things up, so I’m sure Schremp will get another chance some time…

it’s funny that we have a depth problem on top of our talent problem…and by that i mean…

we have too many fringe (2nd line ceiling/destined for 3rd line/hoping just to play- even if its on the 4th line) guys

in 2 weeks or so we’ll have goaltending depth problems

lets hope andy mac plays well, so that we dont need the D help quite as badly as we seem to (he only made a few mistakes – none costly – last night)

why isn't #16 hanging in the rafters?

OT -(might nee bc input or dOM's)

Just read at Blackhawks site the the sighning of Toews, kane , an Kieths is imminent

they have 13 players taking up 43 mill next yr
lets say (using Kessels contract)

they 13mil left over lets say using kessels contract

toews 5×25= 5yr
kane 5×25 =5yr
kieth 3×24 =3yr

56 mil is use up they now have 16 players uner contract and tappe out how they hell they get the other 7 under contract

well anyways chritmas looks like its coming personally i would like
-Sharp
-eager
-Hamjirollson

but realistically what is possible out there, are they looking for salary dumps for cambell and Huet, or do they want something in the future like picks for guys like Barker buff and versteeg wow never knew CHI was so loaded they still have 1st rnd picks in the AHL system like skille or in JR like beach let alone Hossa and Bolland on the IR. Bottom line they have to do something and we hae the money, picks and are in position to make some great moves to help the islanders get better

If I were Bowman...

I would trade picks to the Isles for Biron and Sutton and then run Huet and Sopel through waivers. If they make it through, send em down to Rockford. That gives me $7.625 in cap relief and I may actually have improved my team in the bargain.

I love the way you set this up, so kudos to that lol.

However, regarding htis idea in a serious way, Sim and Comeau play a harder-nosed game than Tambellini and Schremp. Tambs I can at least fathom slipping into Comeaus role- but Sheremp into Sims? That doesnt make any sense. You know that team toughness the Isles have had lately? You dont HAVE that if you have underperforming top liners on your bottom lines.

I dont want to go all cliche and Im not trying to put anyone down- but this proposal is a fantasy league move and not a real NHL move. If you dont see what Sim (or if you dont like him personally, guys LIKE Sim) bringing to a table in a hockey game then IMO youre more of a stats watcher than a game watcher.

Lets go Islanders...

Summarises my thoughts exactly.

Yeah, I enjoyed the humorous presentation and sort of took them as one-for-one swaps. But I ignored that if you made both swaps, you’re removing a lot of grit.

Which isn’t to take away from Tambellini’s renewed (as of last year) effort toward hitting. I’m just not sure he’s figured out how to use both parts of his game at the same time. (On that note, I’m not sure Comeau has, either.)

however you wanna slice it....

I cannot see having a guy with 9 points in 13 games sit when you need more secondary scoring. Schremp I could care less about, but Tambellini should be playing every night.

by BCISLEMAN on Nov 18, 2009 4:22 PM EST up reply actions

and your thought is why we should go for a big PF in the draft...

I have written elsewhere about Nino Niederreiter of the WHL Portland Winterhawks. Another guy is Victor Ohman of the SEL Malmo Redhawks. And Teemu Pulkkinen of Jokerit in Finland is smaller than the other two but does like to get physical. Secondary scoring plus toughness and grit. In the meantime, Tambellini should be playing.
