Around SBN: The End Of Sabanball: Details, Barbarians, And Precision

Even though he may be leaving the team at the deadline, Doug Weight has been given the captaincy of the Isles. He certainly is a logical choice. Brendan Witt, Mark Streit, Richard Park, and Kyle Okposo were all awarded with A's. Curiously Josh Bailey was not. Perhaps if Weight and Park are traded, Streit will be elevated to the captaincy and Bailey will get an A.

Matt Moulson and Joel Rechlicz have both made the roster. Given how much the Isles have invested in Wrecker as their enforcer, his making the roster was to be expected. Moulson was a surprise. A ninth round pick who couldn't hang with the Pens or the Kings, Moulson is a Tambellini-like enigma blessed with athletic ability and skills but, until now, unable to get it done at the NHL level.

He came into camp like a house on fire, however, scored four goals, built on previous chemistry with JT (see my earlier Fanpost), and made a tremendous impression on Coach Gordon. If he and JT can establish an effective line along with Hunts while Josh and Kyle continue to build on their chemistry, that may be more important than the final point total next April. If Tambellini can finally unleash his abilities, so much the better.

Well put.

With Bailey, his time will come. Baby steps.

Lighthouse Hockey: Side effects may include Weight gain and frequent game loss.

I think that Josh and Kyle will make BIG steps this year as will JT, Moulson, and Hunts. And, with the right moves next summer, 2010-11 could be really special.
