Penguins blogs: Pensburgh | The Pensblog
I lied in the game preview earlier. Turns out Philippe Boucher will dress. But we get their backup-backup goalie! Yay! (Yay?) John Curry coming in after the 3-0 lead helped the Pens turn things around last meeting. If I'm catching this one live, I may bounce between here and the Pensburgh game thread -- to needle FrankD if things go well, and run away and hide if they go poorly.

Opening montage
Featuring Andy Hilbert and his “resurgence”: 7 points in his last 10 games. 7 goals this season (career high is 12).
Sillinger said it was great to play with Hilbert and Hunter when he returned, because they do all the little things and are in the right spots.
Makes sense Hilbert is comfortable under old coach Scott Gordon.

having to work tonight
is really bringing me down, but at least I get to have the game on in the background
"Let us go forth awhile, and get better air in our lungs. Let us leave our closed rooms... The game of ball is glorious." - Walt Whitman
Heh, that’s no fun. Hopefully they provide a good background!

was going okay until that Miro goal
terrible goaltending

eesh, that was ugly
Dupuis, I believe.
And now a Penguins powerplay…

nice hit by Sutton
and the Isles kill it
"Let us go forth awhile, and get better air in our lungs. Let us leave our closed rooms... The game of ball is glorious." - Walt Whitman
Whoa
Sutton crushes his old buddy Fedotenko.
… now do that to Crosby :)

Oy, bad penalty
Meyer IV for continuing to pin his man against the boards. His man didn’t even try to skate, just put his arms up in “hey ref, look” surrender.

and another penalty
5 on 3 for the next minute and 7

Crap. Nice clear, Sutton! Come on…

Oh boy ... now Witt with a slash
This could be rough.

and yet another
to Witt (pun not intended)

Ouch, is there anything else they can call on you guys? I’m from Pensburgh but I don’t have anyone to play with, can I play with you?
Come on board! Now stop scoring PP goals.

back to full strength
"Let us go forth awhile, and get better air in our lungs. Let us leave our closed rooms... The game of ball is glorious." - Walt Whitman
Sorry, obscure, I seem to remeber that Islanders had the lonest game in history with ot periods and it was some guy, ugh, cannot remeber his name, who scored the goal that ended it but it stood as the longest game for a long time.
hee hee, typos are allowed.

Maybe LaFontaine in '87 against Caps
It wasn’t the longest, but it was up there.

That was an epic moment in Isles history, so it was too hard to forget :)
I still remember the shot board at the end, 75-57.

that was an unbelievable game
my brother and I went running through the house yelling our heads off, and then took off into the street in our pjs

Great tale
My mom tried to make me go to bed, my dad intervened.

Okay boys
Breathe and chip away at this…

Shots 16-4 with all that Pens PP time…

ok
this is just getting ridiculous

nice!
one for the good guys! nice execution
"Let us go forth awhile, and get better air in our lungs. Let us leave our closed rooms... The game of ball is glorious." - Walt Whitman
and then.....
wow that was terrible
"Let us go forth awhile, and get better air in our lungs. Let us leave our closed rooms... The game of ball is glorious." - Walt Whitman
ok back to work
even work beats this
"Let us go forth awhile, and get better air in our lungs. Let us leave our closed rooms... The game of ball is glorious." - Walt Whitman
Understood
This is hardly good therapy.
Lighthouse Hockey: an SB Nation New York Islanders blog with hip issues.
As Pens fan I think because of this your guys are going to come out in second crazy scary…and good… They have heart, it counts for a lot.
I hope so
A few more PPs would be nice, too. But that goaltending has killed us so far, too.
Lighthouse Hockey: an SB Nation New York Islanders blog with hip issues.
I would've pulled him after the third goal, that was awful
though the fourth one, that high deflection, wasn’t really his fault

And Danis is in for the 2nd
Lighthouse Hockey: an SB Nation New York Islanders blog with hip issues.
Ugh, 5-1
Man, when a few things break down for the Isles this year, everything starts to fall apart. Their margin for error in a game is so thin.
Lighthouse Hockey: an SB Nation New York Islanders blog with hip issues.
Boo hiss
Weak call on Bailey, considering the guy was picking him.
Lighthouse Hockey: an SB Nation New York Islanders blog with hip issues.
And it continues
Guerin ruins the PP with a penalty. This is just one of those games.
… ooh, and now my sister’s on the phone to spare me the pain.
Lighthouse Hockey: an SB Nation New York Islanders blog with hip issues.
Oh lord, Danis
I feel for Danis: he moved here, and even with DP hurt all this time, he didn’t get too much of a shot. But he’s not gonna get one with play like that. Gotta be ready.
Lighthouse Hockey: an SB Nation New York Islanders blog with hip issues.
sorry, just re-read that, I promise I didn’t mean anything bad against you, I simply meant that I like a good hockey game and that my heart hurts for the score now, honestly, it isn’t out of the realm of possibility to come close, and I am rooting for it.
heh, no worries
I know. This game is for the dogs. I’m hangin’ on ‘cause I’m numb.
I do blame you for bringing on the torrent of Penguin goals, though [ kidding :) ]
Lighthouse Hockey: an SB Nation New York Islanders blog with hip issues.
Jackman trying to stir it up
Jackman’s been trying to get someone, anyone to go with him, and it’s not happening.
Now he got a roughing penalty for punching on Minard. I think Jackman thought Minard stuck his elbow up as Jackman went to hit him, but it was innocent.

Sykora hat trick
If it had to be, I wish it had been Satan.
Lighthouse Hockey: an SB Nation New York Islanders blog with hip issues.
Sutton penalty
Good. Glad they called it. If you’re going for the big hit, you can’t stick your arms out to clothesline the guy once he maneuvers to avoid you.

Pens PP
is 3 for 7 with 15 shots so far, 18 minutes into the second.
Lighthouse Hockey: an SB Nation New York Islanders blog with hip issues.
3 or 8 now after the Islanders kill this one.
Lighthouse Hockey: an SB Nation New York Islanders blog with hip issues.
8-1, 30 seconds left
Dupuis will be going for the hat trick in the third.
I will be attempting to crush my head in a vice.
Lighthouse Hockey: an SB Nation New York Islanders blog with hip issues.
Please do not try to crush your head in a vice. It would be painful and ugly and messy, you are too lovely to be crushed ; )
After careful reflection, I have decided your advice is astute, and I will accept it. The vice goes back into storage. :)
Lighthouse Hockey: an SB Nation New York Islanders blog with hip issues.
And Dupuis gets his hat trick, 9-2
The crowd is chanting, “We want 10!” Which is the only sad thing about this night for the Penguins: the crowd has been dead almost all night. Before the game blew up, the announcers were stunned by how quiet it was. It was like the Penguins were throwing a party, but the fans came to watch a ballet.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a good one.
