It's official: Faust runs the Rangers
The Rangers have requested a compensatory draft pick for the recently deceased Alex Cherepanov, because he is "technically eligible to re-enter the draft."
GM Glen Sather courageously accidentally(?) lets his assistant GM do the talking.
Have not yet confirmed the rumor that the Rangers intend to sign Pelle Lindbergh to back up fellow Swede (albeit technically living) Henrik Lundqvist, because Lindbergh is "technically an eligible free agent."

I noticed that too. Sather is just treating Cam Hope like an underling. I can’t imagine he likes the task at hand much either, and chances are he’s merely reading off of cue cards designed by Sather, but in the end we all know who made the executive decision behind this.

Minus the death, the Rangers would have held on to his “defected player” rights after this season.
