Time for Wang to threaten a move?
Isles owner Charles Wang has taken the high road with the Lighthouse Project (the Isles' revitalized arena plan), never threatening the obvious: that the alternative is to sell and likely move. Newsday columnist Jim Baumbach says it's high time Wang play the bad guy.
There is definitely a faction of Islanders fans who agree, saying Wang has been patient enough -- and sunk enough money into the club -- to have earned the right to play Typical Owner. Whether or not the whole LP could be a boon to him, Wang is certainly a guy who loves Long Island and has risked his own wealth to try to make it happen. The project is currently under environmental review.
